PICO Brand Design

In 2022, with the strategic upgrade of PICO's mission and vision, we gained richer resources and a broader perspective, becoming more professional and more diverse. Therefore, PICO needs to meet new globalization challenges with a new appearance and posture.

Therefore, in the exploration of Ola Friend, design begins with a joint judgment of the product role, usage scenarios, and brand context. We take the product name as part of the identity, rather than expressing around the symbol itself.
Because for most users, AI itself is abstract. Technical capabilities cannot be directly perceived; if design only emphasizes “intelligence” or “advancement,” it will instead increase the cost of understanding.

This judgment also extended into the brand language. In the slogan “Hello, friend.” We hope to reduce the sense of distance brought by technology through a more human and everyday expression such as handwriting.

The design at this stage is more like establishing a stable coordinate system for all subsequent decisions.

PICO's brand typefaces follow the pace of the brand upgrade. Starting from the brand concept, they explore design beauty in a comprehensive way through typography, while also combining functional characteristics and VR usage scenarios, creating a distinctive brand experience with a unique language.

PICO Sans
PICO Sans is a variable font jointly developed by PICO and Founder Type. It is the first Variable Font in the country designed for XR devices. Through simple, refined, and rational stroke treatment, it creates a distinctive and unique text experience. PICO Sans supports nine languages and six weights, and complies with the GB18030 standard.

Color
Color is the first step in building brand recognition in people's minds, and also a bridge for conveying brand culture and attitude. It can evoke specific emotions and influence our perception of a brand in many different ways. Brand color can establish a strong emotional connection between a brand and its users, strengthening brand impression.
PICO's primary brand color, PICO Indigo, is represented by #4200FF. It embodies PICO's brand value and philosophy through association and psychological response

In product appearance, we are the first on the market to metaphorically design OWS headphones as a “butterfly.” In addition to the shape itself and the product's lightness, this is also a metaphor: change, lightness, companionship, and communication. It allows the product to break away at first glance from a “cold tech device” and instead feel more like a living creature—something that can be understood and approached. This form creates a psychological expectation for users: it is not a commanding tool, but an object you can talk to.

Under this judgment, color also becomes an important tool for expressing the product's emotions and personality. We chose a fluorescent yellow, not to create visual stimulation, but to give the role of “friend” a clearer emotional direction.

PICO's imagery reflects the way we see ourselves and the world. For cutting-edge technology, we are real and interesting. “Authenticity” is our core; it is grounded in our brand character. Only through authenticity can emotions resonate fully. It can be broken apart and rebuilt, showing our understanding of and interest in the world around us.

Imagery
The hardware device ensures the correct product composition and clear material expression. Through special angles and framing, it conveys a product feeling of “lightness and comfort,” prioritizing hero-shot angle compositions.

Define a clear and explicit product style to convey design intent. Focus on showcasing and interpreting the core functions, and minimize other distractions. Help users better understand the product's appearance and style, improving the efficiency of information delivery.

For lifestyle scenarios, PICO strives to create authentic scenes that match users' real lives, presenting the product's use in relevant environments in a more natural way.

The value of Ola Friend is not in giving a final answer, but in using this round of exploration to make one thing clear: in AI products, brand and experience are not outcome-driven tasks, but key tools involved in early-stage judgment.
In this way, once the product role is clearly defined, subsequent design, iteration, and expression can maintain a sense of direction amid a changing technological environment.
